Peep Show: Maxtor Fusion 500GB with Gigabit Ethernet

by Doug Berger on Aug 28, 2006 at 06:20 PM

Maxtor Fusion

Since we’re in need for some major file organization on our cluttered computers, Fabrik sent us over the 500GB Maxtor Fusion personal web server to try on for size.  The device comes preloaded with Fabrik’s new software, which lets you store, and organize all of your media files and documents (read our post about their new service Myfabrik here).  The Fusion will also plug directly into the Internet so your files can be accessed anywhere (notice the ethernet port on the back of it)!  We’ll get you a full review soon, but for now, feast your eyes on the huge piece of hard drive they sent us after the break.

Ive been using maxtor Fusion for a month now.im using it as back up,as a storage and personal server to show my personal video, pictures to my friends/families and they can download it if they want all in the comfort of my own storage.i just wish the included software(myfabrik) is up to date currently its 1.54 but the software the myfabrik website(commercial online storage) is using is i think 1.57 for me the difference is huge.in 1.57 you can embed pic, music, video unlike 1.54 you can embed only 5 files pictures.in 1.57 cleaner, easier file navigation when they received the file you shared through email.hope the reviewer could inquire about their future plans in terms of update to their software in the fusion. if its 1.57 in the fusion i say 5star if stuck to 1.54 i say 4 star.
