As expected, Opera 10 is available for download as of today, and while it may not be as popular as other browsers such as Firefox, or have the hype that tends to surround Chrome, it is worth checking out.

A version is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux and the biggest of the new features is Opera Turbo, which you can easily toggle on/off with a simple button on the bottom left hand corner of the browser.

“Opera Turbo uses compression technology that provides significant improvements in browsing speeds over limited-bandwidth connections, for example, when using a crowded Wi-Fi in a cafe or browsing through your mobile phone while commuting.”

Other new features that come in Opera 10 include better web integration which means those who use web mail (such as Gmail) or a web based feed reader (such as Google Reader) will have better browser integration, new visual tabs, a “sleek” new design, an inline spell checker, automated crash report, and auto-update.  As far as that sleek design, Opera 10 comes with a “whole new look” courtesy of designer Jon Hicks.

Other features that have been included in Opera in the past that were updated with version 10 include a resizable search field, the ability to customize your speed dial page and a “40% faster engine and cutting-edge Web standards support.”

Basically, if you are tired of the high memory use that comes along with Firefox you may want to give Opera 10 a shot.  I have been playing around with the release candidate of Opera 10 for the past few days and have been happy enough with it to make sure I downloaded the full version this morning.

Additionally, one nice feature that comes built in to Opera, both in 10 as well as previous versions is the ability to sync your bookmarks using the MyOpera portal.
