Olympus unveils the E-520 DSLR

Olympus E-520 DSLR

All of a sudden and without too much hype and buzz, Olympus has announced the new E-520 DSLR, a follow-up to its E-510 Evolt model which was released back in 2007. Perhaps the reason for the lack of pre-launch hype is the fact the E-520 doesn’t offer too much improvements over its predecessor. You’ll get practically the same look and feel except for a few changes.

Being a predecessor to an already powerful DSLR, the E-520 has the same 10-megapixel resolution that is capable of burst shooting at 3.5fps, a live view mode, CF or xD-Picture card for photo storage, and more.

As for its new features, the E-520 boasts of a more advanced image stabilization system, and enhanced live view experience through its HyperCrystal II LCD. Point-and-shoot digital camera shooters would certainly welcome this new feature as it is similar to what we find in most of those cameras. In addition, the E-520 also has face detection, shadow adjustment, multiple previews, wireless flash, TruePic III, 100% digital specific lens and dust-reduction features.

Expect the E-520 to hit the market sometime in July 2008. It will retail for $599.99 (body only) and $699.99 for units with ED 14–42mm f3.5/5.6 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens.
