Nokia has stated that plans are in the works to give Apple a run for its money by releasing smartphones with the newest technologies in place.  The CEO of Nokia has stated the company will become “more competitive going forward.”  This comes in response to detractors that have stated the mobile phone giant has failed to come close to releasing a handset that has the capabilities of the Apple iPhone.

Nokia has always been the most successful manufacturer of smartphones, but data has shown that shares have been lost to Apple and the BlacBerry’s producer Research in Motion.  Approximately, 23 percent of Nokia’s profits were taken by Apple over the last three months.

To step it up, Nokia is releasing a smartphone this week that features a Linux operating system.  Also, announced today is the planned release of the first netbook from Nokia, the Booklet 3G.  Features will include a ten inch display, built in wireless, and approximately twelve hours of battery life.
