“No Zune games” says upstart Gamertell
PJ Hruschak writes that he was recently contacted by Zune’s PR attachment regarding gaming on the Zune and quotes the rep as saying it is a no go. It is brought up that there have been postings to indicate gaming was indeed a direction the Zune was headed in.
With Zune sales in the dumper, Hruschak says it might be a move MS is taking, just not disclosing. My 2 cents says they are using the Halo version to gauge gamer interest and then move forward based on those results.
Is anyone really playing games on your iPod anyway? There are games available, even preloaded I’ve heard.
It would be interesting to see if MS could capitalize on their XBox fan base with a gaming/communication/DAP handheld that dabbled in each. Could they make it cheap enough to be realistic for the teen to twenty-somethings?

Thanks for this. I’ve been wondering if I should get the iPod or the Zune and I’ll stick to the iPod. I HAVE to have games.
on July 30, 2007 at 09:16 AM - LINKHmm… Microsoft may not be releasing games, but perhaps they should go in a direction of homebrew. They already have their free Visual Studio Express programs, (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/) available for Basic, C++ C#, Web Design, SQL, and J#, so why not allow users to develop games? If a Zune game developer wanted, they could make multiplayer games, or add the ability to send the game itself, or perhaps a demo version of it.
I’m a satisfied Zune owner currently, but I’d like to see Microsoft trying a little harder to get their device out more.
After all, what’s the point of the sharing capabilities plus “Enter the Social” if only one person owns one in a 10-mile radius?
