“No plans” to add blu ray to XBox 360?

by JG Mason on Mar 7, 2008 at 12:35 PM

A Microsoft spokesperson stated via phone interview with Financial Times that there are “no plans to introduce Blu-ray.” However, discussions between Sony and Microsoft have been confirmed by Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics US President.

Part of the lure in buying a gaming system today, especially for the older demographic is the justification of getting a two-for-one: a gaming systems as well as a high def player.  Microsoft surely is weighing this option.

Quoted from Next Generation:

“In response to Stan Glasgow’s statement that Blu-ray is a possibility for Xbox 360, we have made no such announcement,” the rep added in an e-mail. “Games are what are driving consumers to purchase game consoles and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available.”
