New York State to ban texting while driving

Cell Phone Image TextingNew York State has had a ban against using a cellphone handset while driving for a while now, which makes it strange that up until this point you could not talk on your handset while driving, but you could text.  New York senator Carl Marcellino is now making an attempt to ban sending a text message while driving. This recent ban is a follow up to the recent deaths of five young girls that have all been credited to texting while driving.

Washington State had been the first state to ban texting while driving back in May.  Seems to go without saying—but if you are texting, you must have at least one hand off the steering wheel, and your eyes on the phone.  Doesn’t sound too safe if you ask me…
