At last, a browser toolbar that’s unobtrusive and useful!  Trustpilot has introduced a new toolbar that warns users if an E-tailer is reliable or not.  Search results are given a check mark in green, orange, or red.  Green means the site has a high rating and many positive reviews, orange means the site has an average rating, and red is a sign to stay away—the site has mostly negative reviews and lots of user complaints.

Trustpilot gives its ratings based on reviews and media stories it collects from the web.  At the present time, it claims to have over 1 million reviews and stories. The download is quick and free and is unobtrusive. 

All you see is a green check mark on your browser info bar (it sits right next to the home icon on IE7).  Google searches will show the check marks next to sites Trustpilot has info on, and if you visit an E-tail site directly you can click on the check mark on the browser info bar to see what the Trustpilot rating is.  It’s a quick and easy way to find out if a site is safe to buy from or not.

I downloaded it recently and have had no problems.  Searching, page loading and system speed are not affected and there is no advertising.  With the economy these days, everyone is spending more carefully and Trustpilot’s toolbar is an easy and effective way to avoid being ripped off.  It’s important to remember however that not every site has been reviewed yet, so if one you’re thinking of purchasing from comes up with no Trustpilot rating, tread carefully and do some research before buying, just to be safe.
