In the past, Targus was known for their functional and easy to use notebook cases. As a way to stay competitive, the company plans to release a line of more fashionable notebook cases. This includes models: Intersection, Echoes, Rio and Madrid. For travelers, the Venture will make going through airport security with your laptop a cinch. Other planned products from the company include a line of cooling accessories for notebooks.
One of the main trends in notebook cases is a streamlined look. Users don’t want to carry around a bulky bag. This is why it’s expected that the Intersection will be a very popular choice. This slim case will come in three different styles: backpack, slipcase, and slip attaché. If you’re concerned about protecting your notebook, then you may want to choose the backpack. This model comes with extra foam lining.
The Echoes notebook case has more style and color choices than the Intersection. This fashionable rippled style bag is available in black, gray, and teal. Besides the backpack, slip attaché, and slipcase, the Intersection has a Netbook slipcase style available.
For buyers looking for leather cases, you can select Targus’ Madrid or Rio models. The Madrid is fashioned out of black genuine leather with a magnetic enclosure as well as additional padding in order to avoid damaging your notebook. The Rio has similar features, but also comes in white leather.
Although the notebook cases will look better, they will still obtain Targus’ signature checkpoint friendly design. Carriers of the Venture will simply need to flip open the top in order to pass through airport security. The design separates the laptop in order to provide a clear view on x-ray machines. The Venture fits notebooks with screen sizes 15.6” and lower and comes in black, tan, or navy.
So, what else is new from Targus? The company also plans to launch a line of cooling accessories for notebooks. Overheating is a common problem for laptops and Targus hopes these products will prolong the life of the user’s notebook. The three new cooling products include: the Chill Mat, Chill Mat XC, and Coolwave. The Chill Mat uses dual USB powered fans to keep the laptop cool while the XC version will allow users to control the fan as well as an integrated 4 port USB hub. The CoolWave is a stand that has been designed to maximize airflow around your laptop in order to avoid overheating.
Targus plans to unveil the new line at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. They will be made available to the public in the spring of 2009.
