CES 2009 Press Conference: Panasonic live blog

Panasonic logoTime for one of the largest press conferences of the day…Panasonic. These tend to be the largest and most dry press event of press day. Hopefully they can spice things up a bit with the 3D HDTV introduction. Besides that you can expect the regular announcements around Blu-ray players, cameras, camcorders, a GPS here and there, and some power line networked devices.

We’re back to 3D HD talk.  Bob Perry is emphasizing the importance of standards in order for this 3D HD thing to work.  3D should not cause a reduction in quality.  Panasonic does not want to split the resolution.  They will deliver full 1080p.  Next Gen Display Tech:  Neo PDP eco:  Triple brightness or 1/3 power consumption.  1/3 inch Ultra Thin.  World’s highest moving picture resolution of 180 lines. 3D Full-HD plasma. Neo LCD Eco:  Power consumption reduced by half and moving picture resolution of 1000 lines.

Going over last year’s 150 inch Plasma display and Panasonic’s Digital Hearth concept.  This year, Panasonic is talking about Full 1080p HD 3D video for the home.  Panasonic’s tag line is “You’ve steeped up to HD, now step into 3D!”
