NEC Announces the NP41, NP61 lightweight digital projectors

NEC NP41 and NP61

NEC has been busy lately with the launch of two new DLP projectors, the NP41 and NP61.  You may be wondering why there is only one photo included in this article, and that is because my sources claim that they have the same features.  In fact, the Press Release kind of grouped them all together for ease, I guess.

These features include a 1600:1 contrast ratio, XGA 1024 x 728 resolution, BrilliantColor technology, AutoSense, HD compatibility, and ECO Mode Technology.  They have 15-pin RGB, RCA, and S-Video input connectors and audio input.  They also have some quiet operation at less than 32dB, and they are very lightweight at 3.5 pounds.

There are some differences.  The NP41 has 2300 lumens, and the NP61 has about 3000.  There is also more than a subtle difference in price and availability dates.  The NP41 will hit the market in October for about $999, and the NP61 will be ship in September for $1,399.  Each of them come with a two-year limited parts and labor warranty, with the first year of InstaCare and a one-year/500-hour lamp warranty.
