MySpace now welcoming developers

MySpace Shades

Won’t developers work for anybody these days? Are they all self employed? Yesterday it was Apple opening its doors to developers and today it is MySpace who is courting the developers.

Social network MySpace is to allow third-party developers to build applications for the site.

Fair enough, this is something that Facebook has been doing for a while now, but not everyone likes that fact, and just because someone else does it doesn’t mean that you have to copy them! Facebook now has over 6,000 applications to choose from.

“There’s been so much excitement, energy and growth on the part of Facebook,” said Forrester analyst Charlene Li. “There’s a lot of pressure on MySpace to capture that energy.”
