MySpace loses ground, Fubar.com gets hot?

The social networking sites numbers for the US are in and the year to year comparisons are pretty telling. MySpace is down 1% while FaceBook is up 77%. The biggest movement is by some new comers, namely Fubar.com who grew by, get this, 3272217%. Fubar is billed as “the first online bar and happy hour,” with free well drinks all night long. OK, I made up that last bit.
All but two on this top 20 list had positive year over year gains confirming the general feeling that social networking is far from done. Newcomers like myyearbook and linkdin saw triple digit growth proving these smaller, segmented markets have lots of growth potential.

on March 9, 2008 at 08:32 AM - LINKDoes it matter that myspace has 950MILLION more visitors? Are you really not able to read the information on the chart?
If I had no website last year, and have one this year and 4 people go to it, the number would be a 400% improvement. Duh.
on March 9, 2008 at 11:30 AM - LINKJames, while your math skills are dizzying, the attempt at a personal dig is weak.
I could care less how many more visitors one site has over another, it is where they are headed that I find interesting. Looking at the year to year change you can ask things like, “has myspace peaked?” or “what could be the next big thing in social apps?”.
Oh, and you’ll want to check that 950 Million column header, that “visits” not “visitors”. I’ll make no reference to anyone’s ability to read the chart, homey.
on March 9, 2008 at 04:27 PM - LINKFubar’s increase is crazy. Wow.
on March 12, 2008 at 04:46 AM - LINKI just hope Facebook and Myspace keep doing well…..
yes fubar {aka, cherry tap for the loyal ones} is climbing. They have many interesting twists and individual involvement. Its commercialization among members trying to profit personally is either almost extinct or conducted on a much more mature and discret level. They maintain the site from spam and hackers extremely well and members are very cool for the most part..definately a site for the adults!!

on August 4, 2008 at 01:46 AM - LINKfubar has a major flaw that has come to the attention of the federal trade commission as well as paypal and most the major banking institutions for there rather brazen acts of fraud and theft by deception.
on June 16, 2009 at 10:55 PM - LINKnot only is fubar being investigated so heavily but they have also been named as defendents in atleast 15 class action lawsuits. alot of the long time members are leaving the site or being forced out for speaking up and defending themselves against the communist like acts of its ownership.
scrapper and babyjesus they two who are the men behind running the site and owners of it are to of the most ego power driven nutjobs in the history of social networking.
furthermore there membership count is complete crap as they do not remove the email address of those members who have deleted or were deleted and count those emails as members even though they are no longer there.
when confronted about it they tell you its there site will run it as they see fit and can do as they please and then promptly either suspend your account or delete it or reset it or take away various privelages.
i strongly recomend that no one join fubar.com.
unless you are prepared to be ripped off and insulted bullied and sexually harassed
well autum,
ive been there three years trouble free and never have been asked to spend a dime, NEVER, solicited to buy anything or bullied in the least. its costs nothing to join and nothing to stay. facebook is a huge ripoff asking for money up front. myspace is for kids, time to grow up!! fubar is spam free. hacker free! post any pic you want….i mean any pic. private sections keep the goodie two shoes from being exposed to your more risque photos. communist? no, actually very very liberal! its for adults maybe thats why you had trouble there..,...

on July 11, 2009 at 07:17 PM - LINKlol, Babyjesus comes forward to defend his horrible site, or is it Scrapppa dappa do? Doesn’t matter. There are 3,000,000 accounts, mostly made my the site employees, and only 50,000 online, ever. Its dumb to compare them to myspace. Prostitution, and Baby J is the main pimp.

i’ve never seen more than 50,000 online at once, and i’ve found tons of accounts that haven’t been visited since 2006-07.
