Music industry tries to cash in on ringtones
Before you ask: a ‘ringle’ is the next big thing coming our way from the music industry in an attempt to grab even more of our dollars. It is a combination of the defunct single, coupled with ringtones.
Each ringle is expected to contain three songs—one hit and maybe one remix and an older track—and one ringtone, on a CD with a slip-sleeve cover. The idea is that if consumers in the digital age can download any tracks they want individually, why not let them buy singles in the store as well? It also enables stores to get involved in the ringtone phenomenon.
We have Sony BMG Music Entertainment to thank for this latest brainwave, and they have 50 titles ready and waiting already. Expectations are that they will cost $5.98 or $6.98, and have the support of retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and Amazon.

I would never pay for a ring tone whatever you call it. A waste of $ and more for the greedy companies that run this whole show.
