Motorola Wearable Concepts, a combination of fashion and gadgets

by Darrick Rochili on Jan 2, 2007 at 07:04 PM

Motorola wearable concept future product gadgetNow this is a concept worth exploring further: the Motorola Wearables. It’s an effort to integrate all the common gadgets people have, making sure they communicate and work well together, and act as fashion statements while doing so.

Too often these days we carry around different gadgets which overlap in function, resulting in pockets full of items weighing us down. A PDA in the left pocket, a cell phone in the right pocket, an ultra compact digi-cam in the shirt pocket, MP3 player hanging around the neck, and who knows what else. To make matters worse, oftentimes the overlapping functions don’t provide any way of synchronizing/integrating between the devices, resulting in confusion as to where something is stored.

At the moment, the accessories developed include eye-wear, ear buds, a digital camera, pen, wristband (WDA – Wearable Digital Assistant), and a handheld, which will all interconnect via Bluetooth and be able to share all data. Among some of the cool features are voice recognition on the WDA, 800x600 display on the eye-wear, and the intelli-Pen which can write digitally straight to the WDA. Once the Motorola Wearables concept gets fully developed, it would be a welcome solution to those problems of overlapping and pocket-filling gadgets.
