In Amsterdam at the IBC 2007, Motorola announced that it had shipped its two millionth Internet Protocol set top box within 5 months of shipping the first, and at the same time announced it has joined the Microsoft Mediaroom Interoperability and Qualification Lab (IQ Lab) for digital video encoders.�  What is that, it is� “a program which will enable the ongoing interoperability and compliance of encoders used in deployments of the award-winning Microsoft Mediaroom multimedia and IPTV software platform.”

This impressive growth demonstrates the rapid growth of the IPTV market.

The rational behind the second announcement is to implement the highly efficient MPEG-4 compression technology which wil benefit from greatly reduced evaluation time through interoperability with the Microsoft Mediaroom environment.
