Microsoft’s Classmate PC offering some competition for the OLPC project

The Classmate PC, which is offered by Microsoft if giving the OLPC project some competition. We just saw the announcement from OLPC about the first official order from Uruguay for 100,000 units and now we have the Classmate PC with an order of 150,000 units that have been purchased by Libya.

In addition to the order from Libya, they have also signed up Nigeria as a customer but would not confirm how many Classmate PC’s were ordered and have already received an order last April to provide 700,000 units to Pakistan’s Allama Iqbal Open University. The Classmate PC’s can run either Windows or Linux.
