Microsoft confirms October 22 as release date for Windows 7

We now know that Windows 7 will officially be available beginning October 22, which means that Windows users, especially those who were burned with Windows Vista will be able to happily use their computer again.
So, go ahead and mark your calendar, then sit back and wait. Of course, this time that you have to wait may also be used wisely to decide which of the numerous versions of Windows 7 will be right for you.
I am curious though, I am wondering how many people are going to be purchasing Windows 7 to upgrade from Vista and whether those people will be getting Windows 7 as a standalone OS to upgrade their current system, or just going to use it as an excuse to purchase a new computer. Due to the typical high cost of Windows and the relatively low price on computers these days, I would venture to guess that many would just opt for the new computer.
