Apple is currently planning a Leopard release in June, which seems about right as it will probably be during or around the Worldwide Developers Conference, reliable sources are reporting. June 21 marks the end of spring, which suggests Apple will meet it’s original Q2 shipping estimate. According to Think Secret‘s sources, we should be in for more than expected.

“Leopard is shaping up to be a more significant release than anyone expected, with much more to come than any of the developer builds have led on,” one source said.

Also scheduled for June is the updated version of Apple’s iLife and iWork suites, which are said to include many new, Leopard-dependant, features. One source reported Apple will be dropping the “07” or similar, from the ending of it’s software suites and possibly going with “Leopard edition” or something along those lines.

For all the Office users out there, Microsoft is expected to release it’s next version of Office for Mac (is to be released in the second-half of 2007). I don’t know how well this will go over as the new version of the iWork suite is said to be made to directly compete with Office, especially with the rumors of the inclusion of a new spreadsheet app. One thing is certain out of all this skepticism, Leopard’s unreleased functionality is guaranteed to awe us.
