Lenovo brings the future of desktop computers to the now

Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 All-in-One Desktop

Many out there think, “I have a powerful computer, great media devices built in, a fantastic monitor, and it all came together in one nice neat package.”  You might be disappointed to find out that your one of those people who is still pretending their 5 year old machine can hang against the newcomers.  Don’t worry, though, Lenovo’s new desktop computer is anything but behind the times.

Lenovo, known for its innovation and industry-driving technology, sets the bar yet again with a new all-in-one desktop.  The Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 brings all things desktop together in a homogenization that few other manufacturers have even attempted.  This powerhouse sets the stage for the future—it’s desktop computing on crack.

Complete with a sleek, frameless 21.5 inch monitor, a built-in speaker setup that includes a bass sub-woofer and Dolby Home Theater audio certification, an optional Blu-ray player; and a digital TV tuner make this a media powerhouse alone.

But combine all that with a truly “universal remote” and the user experience starts to go beyond any out there right now.  Gamers will be happy Lenovo offers a 4-in-1 remote, which much like the Wii remotes, moves on-screen objects based on the remote movement.  But that’s not all it does, it also works as a VOIP phone for use with services like Skype.  Additionally it doubles (no wait…triples) as a media center remote.  Vista users can even use it with Vista’s Media Center applications.

The core of the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600

All of the above features and pictures present a wonderfully futuristic look and feel for a desktop computer.  Hard lines and sleek profiles make this a conversation piece at the very least, but what’s at the core of the future?

Mix together a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo process, optional ATI Radeon graphics card with DirectX 10 support, up to 4 gigs of DDR3 RAM, and up to a 1TB (yes that’s a terabyte) drive and you now hold the future of desktop computing in your hand.

This machine will not only look great in your office, the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 will provide you with a complete experience unlike any available right out of the box.

Waaah! I feel SO behind the times. How can I live without this? Just as most of the world appears to be moving towards laptops, this “innovation” seems so 90s.

As one who is not heading the direction of the trend towards laptops and mobile web technology (you’ll almost have to tear my desktop away from me) I find this desktop evolution to be quite exciting.

Not to say laptops are bad, nor is mobile web technology, but let’s face it some of us are getting older and small keyboards and even smaller screens can present problems.

And gamers should benefit from this largely, I expect to see more of this type of desktop in the future.

This is a nice setup but the problem with all in one systems is they cant be upgraded or added to and for a desktop this is one of the most important parts so really this is an all in one not a desktop killer!

  • That’s great wallpapers.
