on December 16, 2008 at 03:04 PM - LINKWow what a giveaway! If I am lucky enough to win these prizes, the very first thing I would do is surround myself with the boxes and drool a lot. Then reality would start to seep in and I would have to decide how to distribute these awesome prizes.
Of course the TouchSmart w/ the 25.5 screen would be mine. The Entertainment Notebook would go to my wife. I believe I would keep the HDX premium notebook, along with the rest of the goodies. However if my grandson would ask really nice I might be persuaded to part with the HP Mini 1000 and the Kung Fu Panda DVDs.
The rest of the hardware and software I haven’t decided who will get what.

I would like to win this package so that I can give away the entire package to those who are less fortunate… the bulk of it will go with my sister to africa… part to my amazing mom, and one to my brother who is a computer science major in college, but cannot afford a computer.
I think he could do so much better in school and get better grades if he had his own computer instead of using the library one.

Now let me say something about the home. The name of the home is “Arushi” (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) which means “The first ray of the sun”.The home has been established over sixteen years ago to provide a home,education,medical aid & opportunity to some of the children of my city Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) who found themselves living on the streets of the city.Children who suffer extreme poverty and who have little or no ability to change their lives. More than anything they need the love and security of a home.

This NGO also runs six other child homes where more than 700 former street children are living & studying from Kindergarten to Class 10.These homes also take in children from the surrounding slum communities where kids may have a family but parents are unable to send their children to schools because of the cost of the education.
My job is teaching in one of these homes as i’ve mentioned earlier.And not only me, many college students are teaching the children here in their part time.In my school,there are more than 150 children who share 10 old desktop computers.These homes try to educate these children so that they can prepare themselves for the higher studies.
So, you can see,the opportunities are endless.I would love to donate those computer parts to our school so that the children can get better opportunity to learn & prepare themselves for a better future.Thank you for understanding.

on December 16, 2008 at 08:22 PM - LINKI already made a comment on the other thread and hope you guys read it but I just wanted to say that these amazing prices would really help the problems my family are facing today. To be honest as much as we wanted to give some of these prices to local homes that we’ve helped even in just a small way in the past, we thought that the children would most likely benefit more in food and necessities than technology that would help but would be in rarely use for them and as of now some of my relatives and friends don’t really need such prizes, for I hate the fact that the rich are only getting richer.
So, today in this crisis, we hope my family and some certain relatives would really benefit in this perfectly wonderful package. My family in New York has always had only one seriously old desktop for my whole family in NY and my two sisters and brother would really need the portability of a laptop for their studies in college, while my mom who I’ve not seen in about 8 years would really help her in every way as she has two teaching jobs in two cities. We hope that this Christmas anything could really happen but if ever we don’t get this chance, we hope the family who would win this would really deserve it. Thanks alot, and happy holidays.
