First it was books written on mobile phones, and now the Japanese are showcasing films created with mobile phones in Japan’s First Pocket Film Festival.

With 48 titles up for the first prize of 500,000 yen out of a total entry of over 150 films this is a serious festival. Films rage from 60 seconds to 45 minutes and come from 18 countries covering a wide range of subjects. The films submitted have ranged across the full age spectrum, with one group of school children filming from within a fridge.

Now if that was my fridge it would be a pretty dull movie I have to say, but the concept is pretty neat. As ever the Japanese are showing us the way with the range of uses for the mobile phone.
