Is this the Gphone? Yes, says claim
The India Street is reporting a tip that yes, this is indeed a Google Phone (hardware) and names E28, a little known linux phone manufacturer in China as the maker. Fair warning: take this all with a grain of salt, sea salt, the big stuff.
But boy oh boy, it is a nifty looking phone. Thin, good looks, keypad and the term, “mass market mobile convergence” which strikes one as a term Google might have come up with as this phone looks to bridge cell calls to VOIP calls. India Street goes on to say this combo will easily trump the iPhone, which is the point I stop believing them.
Sure, a Gphone with good software, something for everyone and a smartly designed UI (like most of Googles stuff) would be quite welcome in the market, taking on the VOIP is a big nut to swallow. I don’t think the phone companies, never known as the leaders of change, are ready for it. I am not sure we are. Ok, maybe we are, but not John Q. Public. What do you think?

Palm Pre Information & Updates
Palm just introduced their next-gen smartphone, the Palm Pre, and next-gen operating system, Palm webOS. Gadgetell's got the latest Pre and webOS information and news for you right here.

If this phone can truely do VOIP seamlessly, I’ll get it today. As someone who spends most of my time on the phone at home, this would be the ideal solution. Just do away with Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T and offer this as a prepaid phone with VOIP. That way I get everything I want, and none of the billing issues that plague the industry!

on November 1, 2007 at 07:10 PM - LINKI like it… If I will have VOIP, 3G, WIFI, 2.5 mm, and take microSD cards, I will start saving up for one now…
on November 1, 2007 at 07:22 PM - LINKI don’t believe the India Street said that this was the Gphone, only that it was e28’s last model and could be a version of the Gphone. I don’t think there is going to be on Gphone I think Google is smart enough to have many.
