iPhone jailbreak busted, Apple drops 1.1.2

by JG Mason on Nov 9, 2007 at 05:44 PM

You knew this day was coming and our Indraneel was right.  Heck, you have to wonder if Apple even put anyone in charge of anti-hacking this device, or just let the kids have their way and then clamp down on their work.  Either way, this is the end of the TIFF exploit if you upgrade to the latest update.  For now at least (we’ve already seen 1.1.2 for iPod touch jailbroke again).

There are a few minor changes with the update:

  • Modem firmware: 04.02.13_G
  • TIFF Exploit patched
  • Devices in iTunes, battery icon shows up to indicate it charges.
  • Slide for emergency call changes languages
  • International keyboard available
  • No horizontal text messaging
  • iToner works
  • Custom Ringtones section

This list is brought to you by MacRumours and the letter “I”.

Also of note, iTunes 7.5 shows some interesting hints in what is coming down the pipe.  Appletell’s Michael Mistretta tells us the following have been found in the iTunes resource list:

  • Number 4320.069 asks if you’re “sure you want to manually manage your music on your iPhone?”
  • Number 4320.073 says that “Enabling the iPhone for disk use requires manually ejecting the iPhone before each disconnect, even when automatically syncing music.”
  • 4320.082 says “The iPhone “^1” contains new voice memos. Would you like to move these voice memos to your iTunes library?”

Nice add ons for sure.
