iPhone features the iTouch won’t give you
From the day it was announced the iPod Touch has been billed as the iPhone without the phone, but is it? Almost daily we seem to hear about things that the iPod Touch isn’t, so this is a pretty good summary for those of us trying to figure out which would be best for us:
- EDGE Network - a pretty obvious one, without WiFi access the Touch isn’t going to contact anybody or anything.
- Mail Application - even with WiFi the best the iPod Touch will give you is web mail
- Safari Link Sharing - you can surf to your hearts content on the iPod Touch, but safari wont let you email a web link, see above!
- Adding to Calendar - while you can add to Contacts, you can’t to the Calendar
- Notes - despite the great keyboard, there is actually no means to actually make a note on the iPod Touch
- Bluetooth - not available at all on the iPod Touch
- Screen Quality - looks like the iPhone screen is much better.
- Rear surface - with its mirrored chrome back the iPod Touch is as scratchable as any of the previous iPods
- External volume buttons - unlike the iPhone there are no external controls
- Built-in speakers - as the iPhone speakers are only really good enough for speakerphone calls the lack of them on the iPod Touch probably wont be missed that much
- Included dock - cheap and cheerful on the iPod Touch, sturdy and reliable on the iPhone
- Camera - stating the obvious, but there isn’t one on the iPod Touch
- Maps, Weather, Stocks - the applets for these aren’t on the iPod Touch as they are on the iPhone
Now it may seem somewhat unfair to make the comparison, but that inevitably is what people have done, and from the summary above it looks like a clear case for the iPhone. And maybe a bit of ‘over selling’ from Steve at the launch?

You should go to download.com and search/download the application Magic DVD Ripper. That does all the work for you; all you need to do is to set it up. Once you do that you just say what format you want it converted to (ipod) and choose the output folder. It will then start-and don’t worry, everything is free. Hope this helped! =)
