In case you missed it: the Kindle DX Demos
Gadgetell was on the scene at the Kindle DX announcement. If you want to watch Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ demo of the Kindle (which went wonky at the end of the video), we’ve got it. Also, you can take a look at the Kindle in action while an Amazon rep shows off what you can do with the device. That auto-rotate feature looks very interesting.

I love the concept, and the product looks pretty good. However, seeing it in the demo video, I know it would be aggravating to use. It’s too slow. I need instant feedback. You can see him press the button and there’s a half second delay before the screen flashes/changes. I recall my first palm PDA. Everything was in memory and delay was almost non-existent. Not true any more as Palm moved to protected memory and moving apps from stored memory to operational memory.
It doesn’t have to be the norm unless we allow it. Don’t accept it, demand better response. I truly see no reason to put up with lag time. Personally I’d rather pay more for a device that’s faster than me.
