HP releases their latest PDA: The iPaq 210

HP has released a device that may seem strange to some at this point, its the iPaq 210, a PDA, just a PDA, it does not have any phone features. While I am sure there is a market for such a primitive sounding device, I have not seen anyone use a standard PDA in a long time.
The iPaq 210 features a 4-inch 480 x 640 display, Marvell PXAA310 CPU clocked at 624Mhz, 128MB of SDRAM, 256MB of Flash ROM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and has external storage via the SD and CF card slots. The PDA is running Windows Mobile 6 Classic and comes with Windows Mobile Office pre-installed.
Notably and strange to myself the iPaq 210 is missing any phone features and also a camera. It is however currently available and retailing for $450.

Palm Pre Information & Updates
Palm just introduced their next-gen smartphone, the Palm Pre, and next-gen operating system, Palm webOS. Gadgetell's got the latest Pre and webOS information and news for you right here.

I know several people that continue to use pda’s without phone capabilities.
As “primitive” and as “strange” as that may sound to you, there is high demand for these devices (a little research homework would have shown you this) Not every electronic device needs to have a “PHONE” tied into it to be useful. Believe it or not there are some people who get by in life without strapping a cell phone to their body 24/7
Now.. a comment on this devices lacking CAMERA functions would have served you much better.. as it never hurts to have a non invasive camera embedded into your electronic devices.

1. I would go to the gym and watch a 44 minute TV episode on my PDA walking on the treadmill
2. I would take down service request calls from work and jot them down on my PDA
3. Later I would used the PDA as an MP3 Player to listen to music while driving from work in the car.
4. When I get home, I would use the Wireless to check my email and stuff from the comfort of my couch.
5. Then I’ll turn on the GPS software to visit a client.
Can you imagine me running all this on a tiny 2.8” Phone PDA, not to mention that a phone has to constantly be on and thus would keep draining the battery much more.
on January 19, 2008 at 05:04 PM - LINKI, for one, am GLAD to see it. I just broke my Axim, which I use EVERY DAY. In my case, I work in a sensitive industry. I can’t have a phone or camera where I work, yet I need a high speed, capable PDA. What I’m really looking for is a PDA format UMPC, but there’s nothing out there yet…
