Engine Room Notebook Design Contest

Hewlett Packard, MTV, and AMD made a joint announcement that they have decided on a winner for their Engine Room Notebook Design Contest.  The honor was awarded to Hisako Sakihama, a 27-year-old designer from Japan.  As the winner, his design will be the template for the new HP Artist Edition Notebook PC.  The limited edition notebook will feature the AMD Turion X2 Ultra notebook platform.

When the contest was announced, the companies received an overwhelming response.  Over 17,000 designs were submitted for consideration in the Engine Room Notebook Design Contest.  The winning design was a landscape drawing of the sea and sky in Okinawa.

Regional finalists were chosen by regional heads of creative at MTV, art directors at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, and industrial design managers at HP. Users were then able to log on the Engine Room website and vote on their favorite design. More than 62,000 votes were cast for the different entrants. You can view all of the finalists as well as the winning design on the MTV Engine Room website.
