HP HDX16
As a frequent traveler, boredom frequently haunts you and the movie addict in you hungers for high-definition videos.  If the scenario fits your situation, then the HP HDX16 or HDX18 laptops will be your best travel companion.  Let’s take a look at the HDX16.

In a nutshell, the HP HDX16 is capable of playing back 1080p movies at their full detailed glory. Its 16” (or 18”, depending on the model) LCD screen is able to display resolutions of up to 1920x1080.  Coupled with the mid-range GeForce Series 9 graphics card (512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT), it should playback HD videos smoothly, and it can even play most modern games at playable frames-per-second (FPS).  The HDX16 managed to achieve 59 FPS on the widely played MMORPG, World of Warcraft (Although it isn’t stated where the test is performed. Crowded areas will generally yield lower FPS).

This will be an excellent entertainment machine, as well as a fully featured workstation, sporting an Intel Core2 Duo Processor of up to 2.80GH and 3GB RAM.  Its networking features include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.  No, HP did not forget to include a Blu-ray drive for storing/playing back your high-definition movies.  It also has built-in Altec Lansing speakers.

The HDX16’s six-cell battery lasted approximately 2 hours on the LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous Web surfing over Wi-Fi).  The effect of playing back videos may lower battery life; however, no sane users will leave a portable multimedia machine unplugged for long hours.

The price is reported to be $1,824.00.
