Helio’s Ocean coming May 21st
The Ocean from Helio is a phone that seems to do just about everything. A 2.4 inch (240x320) QVGA display with a dual slider format that gives you a full QWERTY keyboard as well as a numerical keypad. The Ocean features 200 MB of internal memory that is expandable via microSD, a 2.0 megapixel camera that has digital zoom and built in flash that also records video in MPEG-4 format, stereo Bluetooth and support for MP3, AAC, WMA, MPEG-4, H.264, VOD and MOD. Pretty much all of your media needs are covered.
Email and IM are the same way with just about everything covered, the Ocean has out of the box support for AOL email, AOL IM, Yahoo! email and Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Messenger, Hotmail, Earthlink email, Gmail, and Helio Mail. It also comes with the option to add your own personal or business account with either POP or IMAP support. Web browsing will be fast and easy with Helio’s 3G speed. The Ocean includes a unique HTML browser that lets you pick either Helio WAP sites or regular access to the net. Built in GPS technology lets you take advantage of Google Maps and even has some built in support for posting your on the go pics to your MySpace account. I am sure there is something the Ocean will not do, I just cannot think of it now.
Expect to pay $295 for the Ocean, reports of a May 21st availability from BGR however Helio is simply stating “Coming This Spring”.

How you know it comes out May 21st? It was reported preorders start May 4th and it comes out May 7th and that was total bull crap, is this for sure? I’m getting sick of being lead on to be excited for nothing yo lol
on May 7, 2007 at 09:37 PM - LINKOne thing the Ocean DOESN’T do is import contacts from Outlook—at least not yet. I’ve been trying for 3 weeks to use the method described in Helio’s FAQ (export to CSV, import CSV to Helio web mail, sync with phone) to work, with zero success. Helio support seems to be clueless about this issue. Has anyone actually transferred contacts from Outlook to Ocean?
on June 15, 2007 at 02:34 AM - LINKNope. I have only been able to synch yahoo…I don’t have AOL…maybe get the CSV file from Outlook and create a new AOL and upload the contacts there? I am at a loss.
