When your 15 minutes, or trilogy is up, and you are an out of work robot actor, what do you do? Well if you are R2-D2 you get busy about getting your mug in front of people in every possible form imaginable and then some. We’ve seen everything from a clothes hamper to garbage cans to remote control toys.
This one is different. This 1/2 scale replica is a projector. That is right, start making your Princess Leia videos about problems on Alderaan… Not only that, it is a remote control robot and it’s remote is a small Millennium Falcon…
Features include:
- On board DVD/CD player. External port available.
- It will accept memory cards (SD, MMC, Memory Stick and Smart Media) and USB flash drives.
- iPod docking station concealed inside (3rd gen)
- It features 20W speakers.
R2 also sports sensors:
“Artoo has a series of built in sophisticated sensors. The first of these is the surface sensor, used firstly to stop R2D2 from going over the edge of a surface, such as a staircase. The second are leg sensors, located on the body near the legs, and are to prevent anything getting caught during leg movement. The third is the projection sensor, ensuring that Artoo is at least 1.5m from the object wall before projecting.”
Price is a whopping $4000 coming this September.
