I was browsing through the Spring ‘07 issue of the American Musical Supply catalog for some new gadgets to post to the site (and I will soon enough) but on page 79 I could hardly believe my eyes: The Hello Kitty Strat and mini Strat guitars by Squier.

Both models come in two colors, black and pink, with a large Hello Kitty face on the front of the full size guitar ($199.95 each) and a smaller HK outline with the words “Hello Kitty” in an appropriately frilly typeface along the front edge of the mini version ($149.95 each).

These are the real deal, full grindin’ axes with a pretty makeover. The standard version includes an agathis body, maple neck, maple fingerboard 921 frets), volume knob and humbucker. Apparently these also have large HK images on the back but the ad only shows the string side of the guitars. They’ve been available since early 2006 and most notably used by Lisa Loeb and Courtney Love.
