GPS Jacket

The way you think of GPS units may be about to change. Usually, we think of a GPS as a normal small electronic device. However, the researchers over at O’Neill Europe and MyGuide have developed a Gore-Text jacket boasting a built-in GPS.

One of the main uses of this jacket will be to navigate you through mountains. It comes with a digital and flexible display on the sleeve of the jacket, with the audio coming in from the hood. You will even be able to enter your location and it will help to guide you through the slopes. Additionally, it can also give you information regarding your speed, distance, route and even weather forecasts!

Another cool feature of this jacket is that it can connect to your phone and deliver 3D images of various points-of-interest and nearby resorts. Furthermore, you can find out where your friends are and follow their paths with the friend finder function.

As of now, it is not yet available but it should be as part of the O’Neill Fall/Winter 2008/09 collection. At this time, there is no pricing information available. This jacket, in my opinion, will probably help out those who love to spend time on the mountain.
