Google opens up Gmail to everyone
Realizing that everybody and their mom now has a Gmail account, Google has finally made Gmail available to all - and by all, I mean United States, Canada, Mexico and a swath of Asian and South American countries. The service has been invite-only since it’s introduction about 3 years ago, and it seems to have grown beyond the need for that. After Yahoo’s announcement yesterday that they will be phasing Messenger into their email service, Google probably realized an opportunity to steal the press.
