GameTrailers gets mobile with Go Gaming
Viacom’s video game video provider (say that ten times fast), GameTrailers, has launched a new channel catering to mobile devices. The channel will provide the site’s usual trailers, editorial reviews, features, top ten lists and original shows (including “Bonus Round”). Along with the launch, it will also offer reviews and previews of mobile games in a series titled “Go Gaming.”
The channel will initially be offered to AMP’D Mobile customers Q2 2007 and later offered to other carriers. The announcement was made at CTIA Wireless 2007 this week in Orlando, FL, by MTV Networks.
Also part of the announcement were the mention of a partnership with Sprint to offer MTV programming, Comedy Central’s upcoming game, South Park 10: The Game based on the TV series’ first 10 seasons and the launch of Nickelodeon channels on Amp’d Mobile.
This is not the first and certainly not the last company that is is trying to expand its video game reach by including casual and mobile games in its coverage. Granted, both mobile and casual games are not always the most visually energetic games to watch, making them an espeically interesting addition to a video heavy site, but they are highly addictive and have a huge following.
