Gadgetell giveaway: Apple welcomes you to 2007, and we want to know what you want
Wow if this doesn’t create excitement what does? Apple has changed their homepage image to the one seen above.
The first 30 years were just the beginning. Welcome to 2007.
As if there was not enough buzz around the company, they have certainly succeeded in reinvigorating the rumors and longing for shiny new gadgets and software in 2007. We already know that Apple will be upgrading their OS, from Tiger to Leopard around Q3 2007 as well as entering the living room space via the “iTV.” Other expectations are a HD Apple Cinema display with HDMI, Blu-ray support for the Mac Pro, the long awaited Apple phone, as well as the forever rumored video iPod.
Can we expect other new products/services from Apple? Be sure of it. How about some thinner, faster, sleeker MacBook Pros, maybe a MacBook tablet, doubling the memory of the nano and shuffle, HD iTunes downloads, more movie studios on iTunes, as well as other gadgets here and there.

I’d love to see a few thigns from Apple this year:
on January 2, 2007 at 06:39 PM - LINK-The ability to take movies or TV shows that are taken down from ITunes and allow them to be burned to a DVD.
-I’d like to see an improved MacBook that has a lightscribe style CD/DVD burner built in
-A better way for iPods to play through a car stereo besides the FM transmitter
-An Apple offerring like a Treo; with Palm-like software, phone, iPod, windows and Mac operating all in one!
- I would like to see a full size video ipod that makes video on an ipod more usable for those with less than perfect eyesight.
- I would like the itunes store to finally embrace high definition audio rather than lossy codec’s. Offer downloads in AAC lossless!
- I would like to see a Apple fight for a DRM model that benefits those who buy music rather than protect those who sell music.
- I would like apple to dispel all rumors about a supposed phone by actually releasing one! :)
- Happy new year!
on January 2, 2007 at 06:50 PM - LINKTheses wishes may seem a bit fantastic but I’m dead serious that I would buy, budget permitting, any of these if they hit the market.
- Waterproof iPod and surf board speakers – listen to surf music while surfing.
on January 2, 2007 at 07:14 PM - LINK- Laser tag iPod – added feature will build enormous installed laser tag gaming base.
- Hoola iPod – download your favorite tunes to your hoola-hoop – playback enabled while hoop is spinning.
- Refriger-iPod – play tunes inside your refrigerator to keep your groceries happy and healthy, before being consumed.
- Inter-galactic Ambassador iPod – Able to withstand the rigors of deep space travel, the Ambassador iPods can be launched towards the solar system of your choice with your own personalized greeting message from Earth.
-I would like to see Apple allow the movies purchased thru Itunes be able to be burned on DVD. Maybe that way I can get thru an entire movie without having o charge my Ipod.
-I would like to see the new Ipod have the ability to be upgraded without having to purchase a higher end model. That way the battery can be upgraded and the hard drive as well.
-I would like to see the Iphone with the ability to transfer songs that I have already purchased from my computer.
on January 2, 2007 at 07:15 PM - LINKI would like to have an Apple PDA/SmartPhone with WiFi, Bluetooth, keyboard, mp3 player, camera, etc.
on January 2, 2007 at 07:19 PM - LINK- I would like to see an new version of Ipod with
ability to hold longer battery Charge, capability to
bluetooth to other electrical devices ie. TV, radio.
- I would like to see Apple design a laptop computer
with the ability to play both HD and Blu-ray DVD’s.
_ I would like to see Apple design a computer
on January 2, 2007 at 07:43 PM - LINKwhich can burn both in Blu-ray and HD formats .
- iTV - home theater box, streaming a/v
on January 2, 2007 at 07:50 PM - LINK- iPhone - iPod+Smartphone in one
- EVER CHEAPER Mac mini models
- 12” MacBook Pro!
I would love to see an Apple iPod cellphone that just blows away the mobile marketplace. VZW has been working so hard at this and I could apple coming in and just blowing them away. That is my wish.
on January 2, 2007 at 08:00 PM - LINKiPhone. :-)
Highly configurable computers. Not just 1 or 2 configuration options.
on January 2, 2007 at 08:03 PM - LINK- An Apple Video Receiver. Let a single Apple unit be the hub everything is plugged into—PS3, XBox 360, DVD player, stereo, AM/FM tuner, Cable Box. That way, there’s only a single (HDMI) cable leading to the TV.
- NAS device specifically for all your media—photos, videos, music. This device would be controlled/connected to via your Mac or iTV. MOST importantly, iTunes either gets re-branded or trashed in favor of a re-built piece of software to manage all of the media.
on January 2, 2007 at 08:27 PM - LINKmy wishes for 2007: an ultrathin macbook for mobile professionals, a 12” mackbook pro, seamless integration of voice over IP in leopard, dual array mics on macbooks, new apple logo t-shirts, old-school mac-apple belt buckles, a 12% rise in apple stock, and a glimpse or hint as to whether there will be a mac tablet, and when it will arrive!
on January 2, 2007 at 09:06 PM - LINKI would like to see the following from Apple in 2007:
Apple Phone - it should have the coolness form factor of the iPod nano with smart-phone features and have OS X light embedded in the phone. OS X light should be like OS X scaled down.
I would like to see a lot of devices and iPods with OS X light or whatever it will be called.
Mac OS X Leopard will hopefully have such a new and exciting GUI that it will be more dramatic then the jump from OS 9 to OS X was in terms of the advanced GUI. Apple can defiantly blow everything away light years away.
I’d like there to be a new Mac that would be the size of the Cube, that way it’s a lot bigger then the Mac Mini and way smaller then the MacPro, I would like this new Mac Cube to feature the exact same speed and processors as the MacPro has, be able to have maybe half the ram as the MacPro and only 1 internal hard drive that’s a minimum of 750 gigs and a very fast super drive that the Mac Pro has. Basically this machine will be the MacPro without the extra expansion needs for someone who want to save desk space and wants to spend much less amount then on a Mac Pro, so to sum it up all the power less expandability. nice sleek look. the perfect midrange monitor-less Mac.
on January 2, 2007 at 09:21 PM - LINKThree things I would like to see:
- A MacBook Tablet bundled with graphics appplications (photo editing)
- Nano 10+ gigs
- IPod wide screen (16x9) something large enough that makes it so I don’t have to buy a separate device (see iluv)
on January 2, 2007 at 09:42 PM - LINKI want iTV and iTunes with HD downloads to be so good that I can cancel my HD cable service and only pay for what I use.
I also want iPhone to work on any carrier (i.e., unlocked GSM and CDMA versions available).
on January 2, 2007 at 10:04 PM - LINKSimple. A wide screen iPod and my life would be complete. But unfortunately Apple seems to want to squeeze as much out as possible before that appears.
on January 2, 2007 at 11:14 PM - LINKI would like to see apple release an iphone with a combination gsm/cdma integrated and two batteries inside for the phone and music.
I would also like a touchsreen widescree video iPod that plays 480p videos.
I would like itunes to upgrade to 480p quality and eventually full 1080p by the end of the year.
on January 2, 2007 at 11:46 PM - LINKI would like to see an iPod Nano with higher capacity (than 8 gigs), larger screen, and the ability to play mpg and wmv files.
on January 3, 2007 at 02:37 AM - LINKi want to be able to wirelessly drop songs onto my car stereo from my house computer....no dragging the pod or cd into the car.
on January 3, 2007 at 02:52 AM - LINKI would like anything other than a shuffle which I have now. I want to be able to choose what I listen to.
on January 3, 2007 at 04:27 AM - LINKA 30G Ipod
on January 3, 2007 at 04:35 AM - LINKBuilt in solar technology to charge battery.
on January 3, 2007 at 04:41 AM - LINKI’d like an iPod a little larger for older fingers and older eyes! (And am wishing for a good iPod speaker dock.) Thanks.
on January 3, 2007 at 04:44 AM - LINKSome sort of iPhone or smartphone with all the fixins - mp3, video..etc
on January 3, 2007 at 04:54 AM - LINKI love audiobooks and rent them as I use audio books to blow thru lots of titles. But putting them on my ipod is not a solution. The ipod does not remember where you left off. I am requesting a way to “bookmark” a chapter, song, place on the ipod that is easy. (can you tell that I am a librarian?)
on January 3, 2007 at 04:55 AM - LINKI would like apple to come out with an ichip. something where i can wear just the ear buds and place a chip on the back of my head where it cant be visable. that chip will recognize certian brainwaves when i command next, or skip in my head and it will move along to the next song. that way i can go about my day without the whole “ipod with a leash” look they have going on. i want mobility and intelligence, without the strings!
OR I would LOVE apple to come out with the Isee. this device would be used for viewing movies through your sunglasses. you stick the movie chip of your desire into the side of the sunglasses and it plays just like a movie screen would. the ear buds would rap around into your ears off of the side of the glasses. of course they would have to figure out how to make it visable and viewable at that odd viewing range. just think when you are at the beach tanning, in line at the DMV, hanging out at that picnic you dont really want to be at you could just put on your Isee glasses and SHAZAM! movie viewing pleasure without people knowing what youre up too.
is this too much to ask from apple? :D
