T-Mobile’s new Android phone, the G1, was available for pre-order after it had been announced. Three days later, T-Mobile has announced that there aren’t any more G1’s left in stock, and thus, the pre-order craze ends. In fact, so many people wanted to pre-order a G1, that T-Mobile’s site went down for a few hours.
The main problem to the pre-order shortage was that T-Mobile didn’t have a lot in stock to begin with and it hasn’t been officially released yet, so other retail stores haven’t received a supply of the G1. In addition, there is a rumor flying around that the white model of the G1 is experiencing some paint problems. Also, there aren’t that many white versions of the G1 available anyway, so it makes sense that there is a problem going on. If T-Mobile wants the G1 to be very successful and be a competitor to the iPhone, then T-Mobile needs to keep up with pre-ordering demands. Hopefully, when the G1 is officially available, they are able to keep up with that demand as well.
Let us know if you pre-ordered a G1, or tried but couldn’t because they are out of stock.
Update: It looks like T-Mobile was just teasing us as they are still allowing pre-orders.

I pre-ordered the phone on the first day, my girlfriend and her aunt pre-ordered one on the 2nd day. It went through ok, is there going to be any issue with those who’s orders went through?

While I can’t answer your question with certainty, I do believe that you, your girlfriend, and your aunt should receive the G1. I think T-Mobile running out of G1’s would only effect people ordering them now. However, they have announced that they have some left in stock, so I’m not sure when that will end.

i ordered one i wanna say on the 29th. im not sure when the pre order started but im already w tmobile saw the g1 had to have it. my order went through so should i be alright?

I think you should be alright. You will probably receive your G1 around October 22.
