FusionOne’s Mighty Backup: peace of mind for your cell phone content
Have you ever had to re-create your address book, re-download applications, or in general moan the loss of data on your cell phone? Well, here’s a solution to help you out: FusionOne’s Mighty Backup service. FusionOne, a leading provider of mobile phone services, has recently announced that it now protects more than 200 million contacts for millions of cell phone users using its Mighty Backup service.
The process begins by downloading the Mighty Backup application to a user’s cell phone; where after Mighty Backup will walk the user through the account setup, scheduling and backup process. By backing up users’ cell phone address books on secure servers at the FusionOne run world-class data center, a user would be able to restore his/her contacts wirelessly and painlessly should there be data loss for some reason. The user scheduled backups will allow them to have a peace of mind knowing that their data is being kept safe and secure. A user would also be able to view, print and edit the contacts online should he/she wish to.
Right now, based on the explanations and demos on the Mighty Backup site, it appears that other items besides the address book aren’t supported yet. But the recent press release does mention that in recent releases, items such as music, videos, ringtones, text messages and more will be supported.
Mighty Backup is supported on various phones and platforms as listed on their site, with an option to contact them should your phone be missing. Just by quickly browsing to the more popular phones such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola, it seems that many of the newer phones such as Nokia’s N series, and Ericsson’s P800 and 900 series are still unsupported. Hopefully with a more comprehensive backup solution within the next releases, gaining popularity and need to backup cell phone content, support for the latest phones will also increase from Mighty Backup.
Mighty Backup is offered through partnerships with cellular networks such as Verizon Wireless, Alltel, CellularOne and Midwest Wireless for $1.99 a month.

I just got a data plan on my mobile. I pretty much do not need my computer anymore since I do so much with my mobile phone. The neatest thing is that I can even watch naughty movies:) It is pretty neat, it’s called Mobile TV. All I do is point my phone to sexoncell.com and they have adult mobile movies in different formats like 3gp movies, symbian, pda or whatever. If you have any other cool sites, please let me know! This one, though, even has a free daily mobile movie.
on May 27, 2007 at 10:56 AM - LINKI have found another backup software that allows me to backup more, (contacts, calendar and sms). I am always sceptical with these kind of applications so I test them vigorously and i’m happy to say this one pass. It is a pure mobile backup software that allows users to backup and recover the data it backs up. SC BackUp is the most user friendly application out of many that I have trialed.
