Fujitsu has upped the ante on hard disk capacity and speed manufacturing with its newly announced MHZ2 BJ series 2.5-inch hard drive. According to Fujitsu, the MHZ2 BJ series sports 320GB of storage and spins at a whopping 7200RPM. In simple terms, it’s a fast reading, high storage hard drive for your laptop.
Designed specifically for high endlaptops, the MHZ2 BJ series is said to be the first product to come out of Fujitsu’s Green Policy Innovation initiative, those are the products that comply with environmentally accepted standards and are – energy efficient and environmental friendly. The MHZ2 BJ uses around 2.3 W of power to deliver read and write operations, which makes it among the most power-efficient hard drives on the market. Aside from this, the Fujitsu MHZ2 BJ series was manufactured in compliance with the EU’s RoHS Directive which is a policy that limits the use of hazardous substances in the manufacture of industrial products. I guess, Fujitsu might be aiming to get a citation or award from Green Peace when their engineers were conceptualizing this hard drive.
As a final touch to the already energy efficient and powerful hard drive, Fujitsu even made the MHZ2 BJ series support the Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s interface. This pretty much takes care of the hard drives data transfer capabilities which is fast, to say the least. Fujitsu will begin selling the MHZ2 BJ series hard drive sometime in June 2008. No news yet on which computer manufacturers are going to be the early takers or which machines they will end up in.
