Free P2P mobile calls

by Colbert Low Boon Leng on Sep 13, 2007 at 05:02 PM

TerraNetTerraNet, a Swedish company has developed a new way of making free calls between phones without the need of a base station but using peer-to-peer technology. The founder of TerraNet came up with the idea when he was on safari in Tanzania and experienced bad reception with his phone. Hence, with the use of peer-to-peer technology, calls can be connected as long as the handset is within the range of one kilometre. The system is currently launched in Tanzania and Ecuador.
