Firefox 3.0 alpha has average performance

by Colbert Low Boon Leng on May 22, 2007 at 05:14 PM

firefoxIn November 2004, Firefox 1.0 which is a slim-down, standards-compliant web browser was quickly adopted by many Internet user in the market. Why? It was basically a quick browser, had less errors in loading webpages, and less security vulnerabilities compared to Internet Explorer, which once dominated the market. But it seems today, after the release of Firefox 3.0 alpha, complaints regarding the software are increasing!

The main reason is that the software is causing sluggishness in loading webpages, and there are frequent crashes. A quote from the Wired article: “Remember when (Firefox) was the ‘light’ browser, and if you wanted to load it down that was your choice? Let’s go back to that.” We are totally agreed on that. I guess we have to look at other alternatives now like Maxthon - which is also a pretty light browser.
