Facebook Founder apologizes for Beacon

by Chris Marshall on Dec 6, 2007 at 08:36 PM

Facebook

Hot on the heels of the climb-down over Beacon, Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook has issued an apology over the way it launched its advertising system:

“We’ve made a lot of mistakes building this feature, but we’ve made even more with how we’ve handled them. We simply did a bad job with this release, and I apologize for it. I’m not proud of the way we’ve handled this situation and I know we can do better.“

Facebook had already made Beacon a ‘opt out’ system based on user pressure, but they have now gone even further and made it so that users can switch it off completely.
