According to a recent story over on The Journal, Jonathan G. Parker, 19, of Fort Loudoun, Pennsylvania recently made the stupid move of stopping and updating his Facebook profile while in the process of committing a burglary. Yes, he checked his Facebook account while committing a crime and used the victim’s computer.
Now getting to the true stupidity, if he was robbing the house, I am not sure what makes this story worse—the fact that he took time to log in and check his Facebook account or that he just not steal the computer in the process. Of course, maybe he was just going for the small (and easily concealable) items because it was noted that he only stole two diamond rings.
Now once again here is a statement that should never have to be said, if you are committing a crime, let’s not involve a computer because it seems to always lead to being caught. Or maybe we can all just leave computers running and ready as bait, sort of like a new home alarm system or sorts.
Bottom line, your Facebook status is not as important as staying out of jail. Oh, and one last item to add to the stupidity—he forgot to log out.
