Everex prepares a sub $300 laptop
Everex has just recently announced the sub-$200 TC2502 gPC and have further plans to launch Linux based laptops in the future. Everex is planning to launch their Linux based laptop line in the first half of 2008 with a sub-$300 price point. The laptops will be available with display sizes ranging from 12.1-inch to 17-inches and run the same gOS that is featured on the TC2502 gPC. The gOS is a modified version of Ubuntu Linux 7.10 with OpenOffice 2.2, Skype, Firefox as well as links to various online Google apps.
Similar to the TC2502 the laptops will be available at Wal-Mart. Lets hope the TC2502 has a better response from Wal-Mart’s customers than their previous attempts with low cost computers. Wal-Mart in the past has
stocked both Lindows and Microtel PC models.

I’m not normally a WalMart customer but I will be if they offer sub $300 laptops.
