If you haven’t gotten your hands on one of the MacBook or MacBook Pros with the built-in iSight web-cam, you’ve probably noticed that the only other logical choice would be Apple’s full-blown iSight camera. The only problem with that option is that it will cost you about 149 bucks…which is a complete rip-off. That’s why Ecamm has announced the iMage USB Webcam, which is available for just $59.96. The iMage gives you the same resolution video as the iSight (640x480) and works with iChat AV, Yahoo Messenger, and Skype Beta. It sounds like for getting such a deal, you wouldn’t be missing out on much.

I PURCHASED THIS CAMM AND TO SAY THE LEAST I WAS REALLY DISSAPPOINTED. THE PRICE IS OK, BEING THAT IS THE ONLY CAM OUT THERE OTHER THAN ISIGHT THAT WORKS WITH MAC, BUT I HAD TO RETURN IT BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK WITH YAHOO OR AIM LIKE THEY ADVERTISE. I SPENT ABOUT AN HOUR ON THE PHONE AND ONLINE WITH THEIR TECH SUPPORT PERSON TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK WITH YAHOO AND THE GUY COULDN’T DO IT.
TRUE IT WORKED WITH ICHAT BUT I ONLY KNOW A COUPLE OF PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY OWN A MAC OR USE ICHAT, MY PRIMARY CHAT PLATFORM IS YAHOO MESSENGER AND IT DOESN’T WORK, SO I D NOT RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU EXCLUSIVELY USE ICHAT TO CHAT.
