VoIP on your cell in the near future?  Busta says it is on its way.

Busta, launched in Sept. of ‘06, is the self-proclaimed internet telephone.  It requires only a browser and an email address. No bloated software here, only a slim 140 kb Active X add-on.

How fast can you talk?  Today, Busta announces 2 bits: the first 10 seconds of your call to anywhere free and your calls are billed by the second—both forward thinking ideas.  Rates in the US are reasonable at 2 cents a minute.  Even better, they are preparing to take this right to your Windows Mobile phone. Testing this out on my desktop, I found it to be painless.  True to their word, the install on my Firefox was quick and easy (the sidebar currently is not compatible with 2.0.0.2, but I was able to us the dialer, set up contacts.  And the calls?  Super quick, clear and simple.  The caller id comes across as from the UK.

Nick Ogden, Chief Executive of The Voice Commerce Group, who developed and operates Busta commented, “Virtually everyone today has a browser, and we wanted a system that would integrate easily at that technology level.”

As Window Mobile and perhaps the iPhone web browsers continue to mature, programs like this are leading the way to smarter communication. To me, smarter communication means things simplify; all my contacts are stored and easily accessed online and my calls and voice mail can follow me, no matter what phone I am using.  With the ever expanding WiFi and 3G coverage the promise of this tech is huge.
