A quick look at these awesome mock ups of what the Starbucks order software looks like for the iPhone/touch shows us some clues about how clever Apple is. Not only is this an interesting way to avoid the ex-girlfriend manning the register but more importantly -depending on how psycho she was- is the system dings your iTunes account, not a credit card system directly, which Gizmodo says speeds up the process. I am not sure I believe that, but I’ll play along.
Apple partnered with Starbucks some time ago, announcing Starbucks would allow iTunes downloading for WiFi iPods and the iPhone. The two have been working on more ways to integrate and this looks quite promising. This partnerships looks to utilize a patent Apple received for iPod/iPhone purchasing.
Could this mean in the future we can use our iTunes account as a form of payment as we do for music and video now? Will we start to see, “We accept iTunes here” signs on retail store doors?
Your iPod/iPhone may have just become your wallet, making sure you bring it everywhere. Apple strikes again.
