Ditch your lame .com for these
Hate your dot com you were forced into taking? Have your e-mails to yourname.com gone unanswered, clearly showing they’ve no intention of closing up shop, even if all they do is put up stupid vacation photos? Yeah, me too. But there is hope for us domain-challenged individuals: an auction on Thursday.
The .me sensation
The Internet powers recently released .me domains and the fanciest (deemed by someone, I suppose) are up for auction in NYC this Thursday. This is the first ever .me public auction! Over 100,000 .me domains have already been registered, but on Thursday, you can get in on the action. That is right, you have the chance to bid on some great hits, such as:
- kiss.me
- marry.me
- rent.me
- ask.me
To give you an idea on how many of your rolled quarters to bring, insure.me recently went for $68k. I sense another business opportunity has just slipped through my grasp. Now I am merely peeved. Please tell me there is more than just these .me high-dollar domains…
But wait there’s more
You don’t have to be a slave to .me either. There are some fantastic .com names still available so you can appear to be old school or retro (your choice). Check these winners:
- beef.com
- stenopads.com
- soypasta.com
- doug.com
- and my personal fave, moonshine.com
Right this way
Don’t want to show off you make the big bucks but still want to bid? You can bid remotely. Want to show off? Head on down to NYC on September 25th to buy some domain names. Perhaps we could take a collection for Gadgetell Executive Editor Doug Berger for Doug.com? Anyone wanna go in on it?

Interesting,
Does anyone know where can one find the outcome of those premium dot-me auctions?
Thank you.
