Disqus; Bringing community to your blog comments
It seems these days with every new and old web service everything is going social. You have social networks, social bookmarking and of course you have very social services like Twitter. So with that said what about blog comments, can you make those social?
Enter Disqus (Pronounced like Discuss) and now comments on your blog or comments you put on a blog become part of the social web themselves and give them a life of their own. Some of the features that highlight Disqus are threaded conversations, posting via email or even mobile, profile that is used on all the blogs you use that use Disqus, the ability to track comment discussions, and of course everyone’s favorites these days widgets!
Are you a blogger and wonder if this type of blogging will work with your blogging platform of choice? It probably will as Disqus integrates and works with Wordpress, Movable Types, Blogger, Tumblr, and TypePad. As for installation I have found it to be a piece of cake and the support for those who might need it is top notch from others I have talked to.
So make sure to check out Disqus if you are a blogger or non-blogger and socialize your comments.

The problem with Disqus is that it creates a possibility for users to leave comments without accessing the article page of the blog their reading itself. Which in turn means lesser page views for a certain Blogger’s blog, and is certainly not a good thing especially if you’re trying to earn money with ad revenue, which is mostly dependent upon the number of your site’s page views.
on April 13, 2008 at 10:04 AM - LINKI found Disqus to initially be very promising. I liked the structure, the way it held everything together, even down to the Tab Widget Box for popular posts, comments etc.
But I found that it was a do it all or not at all option. What I mean is that to install it means pretty much wiping over previous comments, meaning that anyone previously who left a recent comment would be deleted.
I know there was an option for it to take effect ‘from now’ thus keeping previous comments which seemed to work OK, but this still played mean with the Top Commentator plugin.
So ok, you can swap to the Disqus version.
So if you go with it, it’s probably an idea to do it at the beginning of the month when your TC stats are reset.
The other issue was that when it is installed, at least a few months back when I installed it, it would replace the whole comment form. So if you use any specialised Comment/Feedback Plug-Ins, chances are these will become inoperative.
This was based on using it a few months ago, so if things have changed then fair enough.
I saw great potential in this and I think if it can become a bit less ‘im the only one’ type attitude, then it will fit in nicely with a lot of blogs.
But now I have wrote this, I will go back and take another look and see what’s improved and will likely pop back here… :)
