DirecTV

Gizmodo was sent some DirecTV info yesterday…

The document we received was pretty boring, but a few slides stood out. Most importantly, we saw the fall in price for set-up DVRs—from $500+ to about $200 or so—and a little thing they’re calling DirectFlix. This video-on-demand service will include hundreds of movies and thousands of hours of non-movie content. The new systems will also include a proactive service request system which will allow DirectTV DVRs to inform technicians if it’s going on the fritz and allow them to fix them remotely.

This seems like a great service and trend that the industry is taking. Consumer like the ability to time-shift their favorite content and watch programs on demand. We’ll report more details as we get them.
